Description Fire trumpet with broad flaring bell, gradually tapering to boat-shaped mouthpiece, with three applied decorative rings evenly spaced on bell. Repoussé-chased decoration of rock-work, scrolled foliage, floral blossoms, and naturalistic grapevines. Decorated on one side, between middle and lower rings with repoussé scene depicting two firemen shaking hands, one with parade hat bearing the name NEPTUNE HOSE and on the other side a fireman's helmet marked 9 and carrying speaking trumpet, and near top and bottom, two applied loops with rings. Inscription: Engraved on body within reserve: Presented to / Columbian Hose Co. / No. 9 of New York / by the / Neptune Hose Co. of Phila. / July 5, 1852 / Geo. W. Hass, Pres. / Geo. Kern, Sec. / [W]m. Spink, / Edwd. G. Wood. / Chas. Worn, / Wm / Schofield. Engraved on body: Presented to / JOHN W. GARSIDE / by the members of / the Columbian Hose / Co. No. 9 / Oct. 14th 1853.
