The handle depicts a low-relief mythological subject, "Diomedes Devoured by His Horses," above three tined pierced fork. Inscription: Engraved with script initials on handle reverse in reserve: JAL. Mark: Die-struck on handle reverse: STERLING / [lion passant] [anchor] [Gothic G].
